The Academy of Earth and Space Science (PANTHER) launched an ambitious Digital Learning Initiative during the 2013/14 and 2014/15 school years. This initiative, rolled out in two phases, included adopting the GoogleEDU digital learning ecosystem, training all students and staff on how to access and use the digital learning tools available in the ecosystem and then purchasing and integrating classroom sets of Google Chromebooks to create a modified 1-to-1 blended instructional experience for all students. This evolving 21st Century Learning initiative has reaped some promising results as each PANTHER teacher utilizes the digital tools and resources in unique and compelling ways while preparing students for college and career experiences that utilize similar digital tools for research, collaboration and productivity.
Digital Citizenship & CyberBullying
All Academy of Earth and Space Science (PANTHER) students are required to sign an acceptable use policy provided by the school district and engage in a blended seminar that helps them understand what good digital citizenship looks like while in turn reducing the number of cyberbullying incidents that occur among students during and after the school day. This is critical to the success of our students digitally enabled educational experience. See video overview and resources we utilize below:
